Paris Saint-Germain will determine this 2024-25 season whether or not they have a No. 9 problem. The Parisians opted this summer to give Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani a vote of confidence and not pursue a striker.
Nonetheless, Ramos has been out with an injury and the Ligue 1 side has struggled to score goals in the UEFA Champions League. In two matches, Luis Enrique’s side has only recorded one goal.
While this season is just getting underway, the PSG leaders need to start mapping out a Plan B if their current strikers don’t impress. As a result, the capital club could be willing to spend big on a striker.
TEAMTalk reports that Real Madrid, PSG, and Barcelona are closely monitoring Erling Haaland’s contract situation at Manchester City. The Norwegian striker is prepared to sign a new deal, but he wants a £100 million release clause included.
Everyone believed that the Parisians were done with the superstar era. Still, perhaps they’re willing to make an exception for Haaland, understanding that the club need consistent goal-scoring, especially in the big-time Champions League matches.
It will be interesting to see if this season does change PSG’s chance of having at least one superstar that they can build their attack around.
