Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabian Ruiz is set to miss the remaining games in Ligue 1 before the World Cup through injury.

L’Equipe reports that the Spanish midfielder sustained a muscle injury during the Champions League game against Juventus.

He will miss the upcoming Ligue 1 games against Lorient and Auxerre, meaning he will not feature again for Les Parisiens before the World Cup break.

Ruiz will join fellow PSG teammate Presnel Kimpembe in the treatment room, with the Frenchman nursing an Achilles injury.

The Spaniard moved to Parc des Princes from Napoli in the summer, a transfer facilitated by PSG’s football advisor Luis Campos.

Ruiz has enjoyed significant game time this season, making 12 appearances in all competitions.

The 26-year-old will be looking to recover in time for the World Cup, which begins on November 20.

Having been a regular for the Spanish national team in recent years, Ruiz is in contention for a place in the final 26-man squad, which will be released by Luis Enrique on November 11.

His compatriot at PSG, Carlos Soler, also has a chance of making the squad, having featured in the Nations League games in September.

The 25-year-old left his boyhood club Valencia to join the Ligue 1 giants in the summer, and he has made a great impression in recent weeks.

Soler scored in back-to-back games against Maccabi Haifa and Troyes.

PSG wrapped up their Champions League group stage with a victory against Juventus but finished second behind Benfica in the standings.
