Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has admitted that he had the good fortune that he got to coach Kylian Mbappe in France, adding that it will be difficult for the Ligue 1 champions to replace the Frenchman.

It is to be noted that Mbappe is set to join Real Madrid in the summer after having announced his departure from PSG at the end of the season.

It is suggested that everything related to the player is finalised and Madrid are only waiting for the UEFA Champions League final to make the official announcement of his acquisition.

Speaking about his player, Enrique admitted that it would be very difficult for him to bid his farewell to Mbappe.

“I have had the good fortune to coach Kylian this season, it has been a difficult one for him after seven years at his club and all that he has achieved, it is difficult to say goodbye,” said Enrique in the press conference as quoted by ESPN.

Enrique stated that along with their new players, will need to step up after Kylian Mbappé’s departure. However, he is confident that the club will eventually win their first Champions League title.

Enrique made these comments after PSG’s Coupe de France final win over Lyon on Saturday and this match marked Mbappe’s last game for PSG before his anticipated move to Real Madrid.

“There is no substitute for Mbappe, we cannot replace him, we will do it through the team and four, five or six signings we can make,” added Enrique.

The Spanish coach worked with Mbappe during the final year of the striker’s seven-year tenure at PSG.

Lastly, Enrique, who led PSG to a domestic treble in his first season as head coach, emphasised the importance of preparation for the new season, especially since no single player can fill the void left by the French captain’s departure.

“Kylian’s replacement will be the team that, along with the fans and our ambition, will try to win everything in the following seasons,” he explained.
