The Alexander Isak transfer saga is over with the Swedish striker reportedly heading to Liverpool in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

PSG still have Gonçalo Ramos, though he hasn’t secured the starting striker role under Luis Enrique. The Portugal international has also been linked with Newcastle United as a possible replacement if the club decide to cash in on Isak.

Liverpool appear to be the frontrunners for Isak, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that a £130 million bid is expected soon. Well, that soon came in the early hours of Monday morning.

Romano reports that Liverpool have agreed a £130 million deal to sign Isak, setting a new Premier League transfer record. The striker is scheduled to undergo medical tests on Monday, with a long-term contract already in place after being settled months ago.

On the latest Ensemble PSG Podcast, Robin Bairner, chief editor at Football Transfers, weighed in on whether PSG should be putting themselves on Isak’s radar. For Bairner, the Parisians were one of the few teams that could land the No. 9 and perhaps they were a backup plan.

Nonetheless, all of that’s for not as Isak will remain in the Premier League and will join Liverpool.
