Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to invest in a new defender in addition to Milan Skriniar, who is set to arrive on a free transfer from Inter Milan this summer.
Les Parisiens’ defence has been underwhelming this season, conceding 35 goals in 34 games – only the fourth-best side in that regard in Ligue1.
PSG conceded the lowest number of goals last season – 36 in 38 games.
According to RMC Sport, PSG football advisor Luis Campos has shortlisted three players to reinforce the backline – Kim Min-jae, Josko Gvardiol and Evan Ndicka.
Gvardiol is one of the hottest young defenders in Europe at present, having seen his stock grow following his spectacular 2022 World Cup campaign with Croatia.
It is no surprise that Liverpool, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City are hot on the trail of the €100 million-rated defender. However, RB Leipzig have no intention of selling him.
Min-jae is in the same league of the best young defenders, having propelled Napoli to the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years.
The South Korean centre-back arrived in Naples last summer but has made an astounding impact with the Partenopei.
He has courted interest from major European clubs, and there is a clause in his current deal which will reportedly allow him to be signed for €45m during the first half of July.
PSG see him as an ideal target to elevate their defence, but Napoli are looking to extend his contract – which runs until 2025 – to prevent his departure.
Ndicka also has no shortage of suitors, with his contract at Eintracht Frankfurt expiring this summer.
The French defender will become one of the sought-after free agents, with Barcelona and AS Roma battling for his signature.
PSG have also decided to keep Sergio Ramos, whose current deal at Parc des Princes expires this summer.
It was reported earlier that the Spaniard could be on his way out alongside Lionel Messi, but he could end up signing a short-term deal.
