Paris Saint-Germain will be keen to replace Kylian Mbappé this summer, who has left for Real Madrid as a free agent. Over the past few weeks, various names have surfaced as potential replacements. However, the latest player in the rumor mill is a little surprising.

Although Mbappé is still technically a PSG player, he won’t be for much longer. The French captain has signed a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid, which will be presented in July after the Euros conclude.

Players like Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have recently been in the rumor mill with reports linking them to PSG. Nonetheless, a new name has surprisingly emerged: Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon.

According to The Guardian, the Parisians are circling Gordon’s situation as Newcastle have worries about complying with the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations.

Nonetheless, PSG aren’t the only club keen on the player. Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool are interested in Anthony Gordon, and they’ve been in discussions with Newcastle over the past 48 hours.

However, they haven’t agreed on a fee yet. The deal can only progress if Newcastle lowers its asking price. Otherwise, it’s not happening. Newcastle would rather sell other players like Yankuba Minteh than let Gordon go.

The 23-year-old made 48 appearances across all competitions, scoring 12 goals and registering 11 assists for the Magpies last season.
