A new chapter begins for Lysianne Proulx in Bianconero. After making the move from Bay FC to join Juventus at the end of the summer transfer window, the Canadian goalkeeper is settling into life in Italy.

HER FIRST FEW DAYS WITH JUVENTUS

“It’s been very good, I got to see a little bit of how the club is. The training environment and the facilities are all very nice, there’s nice grass and I really like the goalkeeper-only pitch, it’s really cool.

“Even just seeing the culture of goalkeeping here is really cool.”

FIRST THOUGHTS WHEN JUVENTUS CALLED

“It was a bit crazy, I didn’t think an opportunity like this would come so early in my career. This is technically my third season, and I didn’t think a club this big, a top club in Europe, would come this soon.”

WHAT ABOUT LYSIANNE?

“My first club was Torreense in Portugal, I did a year there and then spent four months with Melbourne City in Australia, and most recently six months in California with Bay FC.

“On my strengths as a goalkeeper - I’m quick, I’m explosive, I’m good with one-on-ones, I’m good with my feet and I’ve good reactions too.

“I’m getting on well with the coach and the girls, they’ve all been very nice and really welcoming, especially the goalkeeper group. They’ve all been really helpful in helping me transition into this new environment.”

A WINNING START, GOALS FOR THE SEASON?

“I have good impressions so far. It’s always fun to be part of a winning team. It was a really cool experience, we played really well so it’s exciting to see what’s coming.

“The goal is to win, every sportsperson wants to win. We want to go as far as we can in the Champions League as well.

“I personally want to grow and to get better.”

WHY THE NO.44?

“I used to wear No.22, then I moved to Melbourne and somebody already had it so the first reason was that I just doubled it, but also the No.44 is a legendary number at my university, Syracuse, and it’s not a very popular number so it makes it a bit more special to me.”
