Watford and Hull City face each other this Tuesday at the Vicarage Road for round 41 of the EFL Championship.
Watford have 53 points to their name this season and occupy 10th position in the table. In their last encounter, Tom Cleverley's team were beaten 2-1 by Bristol City (EFL Championship 2024/2025).
Hull City have won 44 points to date and are placed in 19th position. In their last fixture, Tim Walter's team won 0-1 against Sheffield Wed. (EFL Championship 2024/2025).
The last meeting between the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw.
Tom (Golden Pages Fanzine): The defeat to Bristol City at the weekend all but extinguished the Golden Boys' thin hopes of reaching the playoffs. The match turned on the early substitution of Kwadwo Baah, who worryingly suffered a reoccurrence of the injury that kept him out for over two months.
The one positive note was the goal from 19-year-old forward Mamadou Doumbia. He will have gained confidence from notching his first Watford goal and could be set for a start.
The midweek match could see Tom Cleverley make changes. Without Baah, an alternative source of attacking impetus will be sought. It is a quandary the Hornets have been struggling with for large parts of the season.
With a handful of ties remaining, Watford fans will hope to see some youngsters make a mark, with a view to next season. Confidence amongst the support is low and a positive result against relegation-threatened Hull is not anticipated. It could turn toxic at Vicarage Road once more if a decent battle does not ensue.
