This Sunday, Arsenal will travel to face Aston Villa in the fourth rescheduled date for the fixture.

The initial match was supposed to have been played on January 9, however, Covid-19 related issues meant the tie was postponed. The fixture has then been called off two further times due to an unplayable pitch.

With both teams needing points on the board, everyone involved will be hoping it will be fourth time lucky.

Both teams go into the clash on a relatively poor run of form in the league. Arsenal have not had a win in their last three games whilst Villa have only one win in their past five. A win for the Villains would see them able to jump two league places depending on the results for the teams above them.

The home side will be looking to put some much needed distance between themselves and the bottom of the table.

A victory for the Gunners would help them close the gap to the leading pack. Arsenal will be looking to guarantee themselves a Champions League spot whilst putting an end to growing criticism.

Ones to watch

Both teams have players in form who could impact the game.

Aston Villa

Mana Iwabuchi has been pivotal for the home side. The forward bagged the only goal against Tottenham securing three vital points in the process for her team. Her driving runs have been vital for the Villains, however her clinical strikes have proven to be her greatest asset.

Arsenal

Vivianne Miedema has been key for the away side and whilst the team are in a lower league position than last season, the forward is close to equalling her goal tally from last season. The No.11 needs four more goals to equal last seasons tally of 16.

Team news

Aston Villa – Aston Villa have not announced any new injuries in the run up to the weekend’s tie.

Arsenal – Jordan Nobbs and Jen Beattie are both available for selection with Caitlin Foord being monitored after returning to limited squad training.
