PREVIEW: Leicester City v Manchester City

Article image:PREVIEW: Leicester City v Manchester City

Leicester City and Manchester City will be keen to collect three points for very different reasons when they contest a Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at The King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The Foxes are four points adrift of Barclays Women’s Super League safety at the bottom of the table while latest opponents Manchester City cannot afford many more dropped points if they are to qualify for next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League. Gareth Taylor’s Cityzens are two points adrift of third-placed Arsenal who occupy the final European qualification spot while The Gunners also have a game-in-hand.

Leicester City manager Willie Kirk continues to be without the services of long-term absentees Lachante Paul and Jess Sigsworth while defender Abbie McManus has also been sidelined for several weeks. On loan Manchester City defender Ruby Mace is ineligible to face her parent club but striker Remy Siemsen could be involved, although it is unlikely that she will start the match.

Manchester City head coach Taylor has good squad availability ahead of his side’s latest match. Defender Demi Stokes could return to the squad following her recent injury but Esme Morgan is a little further away from fitness.

The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Leicester City and Manchester City is scheduled to kick-off at 11.30am on Saturday. Tickets remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
