Leeds United will be hoping to get back to winning ways in the Premier League as they welcome Newcastle United to Elland Road for Saturday’s evening fixture.

The Whites have won once and lost once so far on their return to the top-flight, beginning with a memorable home victory over Everton.

Under the lights in West Yorkshire and with the game finely poised heading into the dying stages, a late penalty from debutant Lukas Nmecha sealed all three points for Daniel Farke’s side.

United then travelled to London to face title-contenders Arsenal and came away empty handed, before exiting the League Cup during the week.

The encounter will be a special occasion for former Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff who, after making over 200 appearances for his boyhood club, left the Magpies in the summer to join Leeds.

As well, fellow summer signings Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw, James Justin, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin could make their first appearances at Elland Road.

Eddie Howe’s side have picked up one point from their opening two fixtures. Despite an Ezri Konsa red card, Newcastle were held to a goalless draw by Aston Villa in the season’s curtain raiser.

Last time out, goals from Bruno Guimarães and William Osula saw the Magpies impressively fight from two behind to level against reigning champions Liverpool, only for youngster Rio Ngumoha to then grab the headlines with a last-gasp winner on Tyneside.

Action from Elland Road gets underway at 5:30pm.
