Arsenal will be hoping to continue to put pressure on the sides above them in the Barclays Women’s Super League table when they travel to Villa Park to face Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners currently sit in third position, three points adrift of the league summit. This weekend sees Jonas Eidevall’s side face a significant threat from an ever-improving Aston Villa team.

Aston Villa head coach Carla Ward continues to be without the services of long-term absentees Remi Allen, Meaghan Sergeant, Simone Magill, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, Natasha Harding and Evie Rabjohn. Ruesha Littlejohn is also expected to be out along with youngster Freya Gregory. On loan Arsenal defender Anna Patten is ineligible to play against her parent club.

Arsenal have confirmed that forward Lina Hurtig is back on the training pitch but this weekend’s game will come too soon for her return. Kim Little also remains sidelined along with youngster Teyah Goldie. Defenders Leah Williamson and Rafaelle Souza have recently returned to action following injury and the pair have come through unscathed.

The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Aston Villa and Arsenal is scheduled to kick-off at 4.15pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
