As reported by Le Parisien, Presnel Kimpembe (28) returned to collective PSG training for the first time in eight months today. The France international defender has been nursing a ruptured Achilles tendon for the last 256 days which has forced him out of any form of participation in first-team training.
Kimpembe suffered the injury in a 3-0 victory against Les Parsiens’ arch-rivals Marseille in February. The PSG academy graduate received a guard of honour from his Paris teammates as he returned to training on Thursday morning. The 2018 World Cup winner resumed solo training in September but is now well along his rehabilitation plan and has returned to full training.
It remains to be seen when the 28-year-old enters contention for a place in Luis Enrique’s matchday squads but his first opportunity to show the former Barcelona manager what he is made of in training is a big step based on his struggles over the past 8 months.
