Premiership side Livingston have reportedly struck a deal to sign Adam Montgomery from Celtic. The fullback is expected to join David Martindale’s side at the Set Fare Arena as they look to re-establish themselves as a top flight side.
Record Sport are reporting that Livi are close to signing the full back. Montgomery has two years remaining on his contract but it looks unlikely at this stage whether he will have a future at Celtic.
Montgomery has spent the last few years out on loan, working towards fighting for a first team place at Celtic. The full-back was at Queen’s Park last season but has previously had loans at Aberdeen, St Johnstone, Motherwell and Fleetwood Town under Scott Brown.
At 23, Montgomery has made just 82 professional appearances – 20 of these have been for Celtic. The player needs to play regularly but injuries have followed him. The player needs to stand out for Livi in order to force his way into Brendan Rodgers’ plans as it appears that only Ange in his first season involved Montgomery but that was more out of necessity than design.
There had been a suggestion that Brendan would’ve considered Montgomery as deputy at left back to Kieran Tierney but this deal appears to highlight that the manager would rather keep Inamura around.
