Boubacar Kamara (25) is garnering plenty of interest as Aston Villa look to tie the Frenchman down to a new deal, L’Équipe report.

Kamara is preparing to face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League. The Premier League side face the recently-crowned Ligue 1 champions in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the competition at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening. The Frenchman almost joined PSG, L’Équipe have revealed. Despite playing for fierce rivals Olympique de Marseille, PSG discretely tried to sign the midfielder on a free transfer before he ultimately opted to join Aston Villa.

Aston Villa offer Kamara ‘mouthwatering’ contract renewal offer

Les Parisiens are not expected to reignite their interest, however, Kamara will not be short of suitors this summer. Aston Villa are aware of that and have made a “mouthwatering” renewal offer to convince him to stay. Foot Mercato have already reported that the Birmingham-based club were prepared to make a “historic” contract offer “never seen in the club’s history”.

L’Équipe understands that the renewal offer submitted to the Frenchman is “worthy of a top five European club”. That offer is to ward off what L’Équipe ave called “England’s Big Four”. A reference – likely – to interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City. Those aren’t the only interested parties, however, with other clubs circling should Kamara decide that his future lies away from Villa Park.
