Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle United will rival Manchester City to sign Hajduk Split defender Luka Vuskovic, according to the Daily Mail.
The Cityzens were the first to register interest in the 16-year-old, and they are ready to make a £12 million offer.
However, they are no longer alone in the pursuit, with their Premier League rivals entering the race.
Each club sent scouts to watch Vuskovic in the UEFA Youth League on Friday at the Stade de Geneve in Switzerland.
The six-foot-five inch centre-back helped his side record a 3-1 victory over AC Milan. They will now play in the final against AZ Alkmaar under-19s.
Vuskovic made his first team debut for Hajduk on February 26, two days after his sixteenth birthday.
It was a league derby game against Dinamo Zagreb. Hajduk lost 4–0.
However, the young defender became the youngest player in the Croatian top flight and ever to feature in the Eternal Derby match.
Vuskovix netted his first professional goal in a Croatian Cup quarter-final match against NK Osijek a week later. He scored the opener as they went on to win the tie 2-1.
Consequently, he became the youngest goal scorer in Hajduk’s history.
Vuskovic has earned comparisons to Barcelona great Gerard Pique, although scouts worry he is not as svelte as the former Spain international.
Vuskovic is a Croatian youth international with appearances in various age groups.
It is unclear whether the imposing centre-back is open to switching to England.
He may value developing in his home country instead of dealing with the pressures of a hefty price tag.
