The Premier League appears set to hold a pre-season tournament in the USA in the summer of 2023.

This is according to a report from The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who revealed on Monday that there are plans in place to host an enhanced tournament in the country next July.

Although details are yet to be confirmed, it is believed that the competition would see six Premier League clubs divided across two groups playing friendlies in multiple cities across the east and west coast of the US.

The report stated that 14 of the 20 Premier League clubs are in favour of the idea although the intentions of the so-called ‘big six’ – Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are not known at this stage.

The 2026 World Cup will be held in the states, along with Canada and Mexico.
