Chelsea’s trip to Wolves has been rescheduled for Christmas Eve in the Premier League’s latest broadcast selection changes.

The visitors were set to travel to Molineux for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 23 December when the 2023/24 fixtures were originally announced.

But that game has been pushed back by just under 24 hours to 1pm on 24 December, making it only the second game in the modern top flight’s history on that date.

The Chelsea Supporters’ Trust have reacted to news of the change for TV by urging the Premier League to reconsider its position.

“It is totally unacceptable that Wolves v Chelsea has been scheduled for Christmas Eve,” read a statement.

“Not only could this lead to staffing issues at Molineux, but holiday transport timetables will further inconvenience supporters.

“The Chelsea Supporters’ Trust will formally request that the Premier League properly consults supporters on this issue and that they reverse this decision.”

Leeds and Manchester United were the previous two teams to contest a Premier League fixture on Christmas Eve back in 1995.
