Premier League goals of the week: Gameweek 2
Well, that was fun.
The second round of fixtures of the 2022/23 Premier League season will likely be spoken about for months and months to come.
Manchester United's collapse against Brentford was almost unbelievable, while the Battle of the Bridge 2.0 between Chelsea and Tottenham certainly did not disappoint either.
Here are the best goals from this round of action.
1. Danny Ings vs Everton
Aston Villa's new number nine looked to have fluffed this chance after awkwardly controlling Ollie Watkins' low cross, but it actually worked in Danny Ings' favour.Channelling his inner first-time-you-tried-a-Cruyff-turn, Ings managed to wrong-foot his defender and, with another touch to create some space, he fired home a real rocket.Ings netted seven goals last season and he's now up and running this time around.
2. Kyle Walker-Peters vs Leeds
A nice finish by Kyle Walker-Peters, but what an assist that is from Sekou Mara.Southampton's young summer signing whipped out the roulette to create some space before threading through the most perfect of passes right to the feet of his right-back.A great move, start to finish.
3. Kevin De Bruyne vs Bournemouth
Kevin De Bruyne was on one against Bournemouth. The Belgian's finest moment was this delightful strike which had the defenders on skates in fear of what De Bruyne was actually capable of doing to them.Manchester City were dominant, and De Bruyne was a massive reason why.
4. Gabriel Jesus vs Leicester
What a signing Gabriel Jesus has been for Arsenal so far.The Brazilian was at his dazzling best against Leicester and this goal was the cherry on top.Another move that looked to have fallen through, Jesus saved it with a gorgeous curled strike which looped into the top corner almost as if it was travelling in slow motion.
5. Gabriel Martinelli vs Leicester
Not to be outdone by his namesake, up stepped Martinelli to finish the scoring off with a lovely low drive. One touch to set himself and another to arrow the ball across the box and into Danny Ward's bottom corner. It's a simple game, really.Martinelli has now scored in three straight league games for Arsenal - never before has he managed four.
6. Bryan Mbeumo vs Man Utd
Brentford had an alright Saturday, didn't they?Thomas Frank's men picked Man Utd apart with ruthless efficiency, and there is no better example of that then Bryan Mbeumo's strike on the counter to make the score 4-0.A calculated hoof from the back found Ivan Toney in some space, and without even blinking, he fired a first-time pass right into the path on the onrushing Mbeumo, who shrugged off his defender and completed one of the most mind-blowing victories in Premier League history.
7. Kalidou Koulibaly vs Tottenham
A centre-back wearing number 26 celebrating a goal at Stamford Bridge? Yeah, sounds about right. He wasn't signed for his goals, but that's what Kalidou Koulibaly brought to Chelsea's dramatic draw with Tottenham, thumping home a glorious volley from a corner taken by fellow new face Marc Cucurella.Raheem Sterling had half a second to avoid getting flung into the goal as well, such was the ferocity of the strike.
8. Wilfried Zaha vs Liverpool
When Ebere Eze and Wilfried Zaha combine, no defenders are safe. The former's quick footwork and excellent vision created this move for Crystal Palace, before the latter's incisive finishing sealed the deal and put the Eagles 1-0 up against Liverpool. They couldn't hold on to that lead, however, and that's because of...
9. Luis Diaz vs Crystal Palace
Only hours after Jurgen Klopp had backed Luis Diaz to find his shooting boots, the Liverpool winger went and did this.Skipping past three defenders, Diaz weaved his way to the edge of the Palace box and fired off a ferocious effort which soared into the back of Vicente Guaita's net.You don't save those.
