Everton and Nottingham Forest are among the Premier League clubs set for disappointment in the race for PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.

Both sides have made enquiries into the availability of the 22-year-old, who is set to leave the Dutch champions this summer.

Bakayoko has just 12 months to run on his contract at PSV and is refusing to return for pre-season as he looks to engineer an exit.

PSV have set an asking price of €20m (£17.3m) for Bakayoko, who scored nine goals in 17 league starts last season.

He had earlier enjoyed a breakout season in 2023/24, returning 21 goals and assists in 35 appearances as PSV won the Eredivisie title.

Everton and Nottingham Forest have both made Bakayoko a target, with the latter seeking a replacement for Anthony Elanga.

Everton are also in the market for a right-winger after opting against making the loans of Jesper Lindstrom or Jack Harrison permanent.

However, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the Bundesliga is Bakayoko’s likeliest destination.

Both RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen have made the player a priority and are pushing for a deal.

Sky Germany have claimed that Leipzig are in ‘pole position’ to secure his signature.
