Giorgi Mamardashvili has handed Premier League teams a boost in the race for his services after suggesting he would not consider a transfer to Bayern Munich.

Mamardashvili enhanced his reputation with some excellent performances as Georgia reached the Round of 16 at Euro 2024, with the goalkeeper leading the competition for saves and expected goals prevented for the tournament debutants.

The 23-year-old is expected to leave Valencia this summer with the Spanish side seeking a fee in the region of €30m, having already announced the arrival of Stole Dimitrievski as a replacement, who signs as a free agent after ending his contract with Rayo Vallecano.

Chelsea and Newcastle have been linked with signing Mamardashvili, while Bayern Munich have placed the Georgian goalkeeper on their radar as a long-term replacement for Manuel Neuer.

Bayern came close to signing the shot-stopper last summer, though Mamardashvili has said he would not consider a move to the Bundesliga side while Neuer remains first choice.

“Bayern still have the best goalkeeper in the world,” he told Sky Germany.

“It’s currently not possible to move there. I would only go there if I’ll play. If I don’t play, then not.”
