Vincent Kompany will be forced into two changes when his Bayern Munich side face Freiburg at Europa Park on Saturday afternoon. Konrad Laimer has accumulated five yellow cards in the Bundesliga and will miss the clash while Alphonso Davies is sidelined for between two and three weeks after going off with a muscular injury in the Rekordmeister’s 3-0 defeat at Feyenoord.
The Belgian hinted that both João Palhinha and Sacha Boey could return to the squad following recent injuries but it’s unlikely that either will feature, let alone start. Josip Stanisic, who has played just 90 minutes across all competitions this season, is expected to return to the line-up after recovering from knee surgery while Raphaël Guerreiro will deputise for Davies on the left.
Leon Goretzka excelled against Wolfsburg, scoring a brace, but he’s expected to be replaced by Aleksandar Pavlovic who should start alongside Joshua Kimmich. Jamal Musiala also started in midweek for the first time in 2025 and should retain that position with Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry coming in for Michael Olise and Kingsley Coman.
As for Freiburg, Matthias Ginter was replaced against Stuttgart last weekend due to injury and it’s unclear as to whether the central-defender will start. In the absence of Ginter, Philipp Lienhart will likely return to the starting XI.
Per kicker, should Freiburg choose to a counter-attacking setup, Merlin Röhl will likely start on the left ahead of Vincenzo Grifo.
Freiburg: Atubolu – Kübler, Rosenfelder, Lienhart, Günter – Eggestein, Osterhage – Doan, Dinkci, Röhl – Adamu
Bayern Munich: Neuer – Stanisic, Upamecano, Kim, Guerreiro – Kimmich, Pavlovic – Sané, Musiala, Gnabry – Kane
