There were some big performances across the domestic leagues this week before the business end of the Champions League hit us like a speed train.

It’s time for the latest Power Rankings

10. Milan (👎 Last week: 6)

Milan’s performances have stuttered in recent weeks and they looked rusty in the poor 0-0 draw with Bologna on Monday.

They remain top of Serie A although Stefano Pioli will know they’ve missed a huge chance to open up a gap in the title race.

9. Bayern Munich (👎 Last week: 8)

Julian Nagelsmann’s side may have returned to form in the Bundesliga with an emphatic win over Freiburg at the weekend but that was followed by a shock defeat to Villarreal in the Champions League.

Bayern were poor out in Spain despite being heavy favourites and it leaves them work to do if they are to progress to the semi-finals.

8. Villarreal (🆕)

Unai Emery is the master of European knockout football.

His Villarreal side storm into the top ten after pulling off a remarkable 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich and it could’ve been more. Could the Europa League winners be about to cause a shock on the big stage?

7. RB Leipzig (👍 Last week: 10)

Domenico Tedesco’s impact at RB Leipzig continues to be a positive one.

Die Roten Bullen rocked up at a full-capacity Westfalenstadion and silenced the Yellow Wall with a stunning 4-1 win, extending their unbeaten run to ten games and solidified their control of the top four spot in the Bundesliga.

6. Chelsea (👎 Last week: 4)

Thomas Tuchel can’t wait to see the back of this week.

Brentford went to Stamford Bridge and silenced the home faithful with a 4-1 thrashing before Karim Benzema rolled into town four days later and bagged a hat-trick to, in the words of the German, ‘kill the tie’. The European champions’ defence hangs by a thread.

5. Inter (🆕)

The Serie A champions are right back in the title race.

Sunday’s dramatic 1-0 win over Juventus in the Derby d’Italia was their first in three games and has thrown them back into contention at the top. A victory in their game in hand would see the move one point behind league leaders Milan.

4. Barcelona (👍 Last week: 5)

Something is happening in Catalonia.

Pedri’s stunning strike earned victory over Sevilla – their sixth consecutive in LaLiga. Xavi arrived at the club sitting in ninth, now they have jumped up tosecond with eyes on any dramatic slip-ups from Real Madrid in top spot.

3. Manchester City (No change)

City had to deal with starting a game not top of the Premier League for the first time since October when they stepped out to face Burnley.

They dispatched with Sean Dyche’s side comfortably before finally breaking down AtlĂ©tico de Madrid in the Champions League in midweek. Pep Guardiola’s boys are made of stern stuff.

2. Liverpool (👎 Last week: 1)

Liverpool just keep on putting pressure on the league leaders, and go into their mouth-watering clash on Sunday with the chance to take control of the title race.

A comfortable win over Benfica in Europe means the chance of a historic quadruple is very much still on.

1. Real Madrid (👍 Last week: 2)

A tricky trip to Vigo was brushed aside before Karim Benzema pulled an outstanding performance out of the bag to destroy Chelsea at the Bridge.

Write off Carlo Ancelotti’s side in the Champions League at your peril. They are on a journey.
