Another week has flown by and, even without Premier League football, it’s time for an update to the Power Rankings …
Barcelona are back … almost. A superb start to the LaLiga season continued at the weekend as they made it four wins in a row and then the first half at Bayern Munich was excellent …
… but you can’t miss your chances at the Allianz Arena. They’re looking sharper than they have for years and have to be considered serious contenders for major honours again.
Top of the Bundesliga! Union Berlin!
They may have lost their Europa League opener but they are unbeaten in the league, winning four and drawing two, and have conceded just four times in six games. Two points clear of Bayern Munich is no mean feat no matter how far we are into the season and Union are once again shining despite the loss of some star names over the summer.
Antonio Conte teams in the league are not the same as Antonio Conte teams in Europe.
Despite a strong run of results, Spurs have not really looked in full control in Premier League outings this season but have managed to win nonetheless. The same was not the case on Tuesday as they lost to Sporting in Lisbon.
A minor setback, a mere blip in a tricky away game, or a sign of things to come?
What’s to say? Arsenal have played once since our last update, with a heavily rotated side beating FC Zürich 2-0 in Switzerland. With last weekend’s Premier League matches postponed they remain top of the table.

A dramatic 3-2 win against Inter and a dramatic 2-1 win against Sampdoria, the Serie A holders are not making life easy for themselves domestically but they are getting over the line.
And they’re properly off the mark in Europe now too after beating Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday to take top spot in their Champions League group.
Three consecutive Bundesliga draws constitutes a crisis in southern Germany. And then they go and beat Barcelona 2-0 in the Champions League.
Bayern still look pretty rosy, whatever the naysayers tell you, and are just two points from top spot in the league (and level on points with Borussia Dortmund) despite a slow start. Life post-Lewandowski could have been much rockier.

Top of Serie A and two wins in the Champions League, Napoli are rolling on without a care in the world.
It was a dramatic late winner from Giacomo Raspadori — his first for his new club — that saw them over the line at the weekend and just emphasised the depth available to Luciano Spalletti. The question is whether or not they can keep it going.
With no game last weekend, Manchester City took a long time to get going against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday. But as soon as they got their first goal, you knew another was on the way.
City have now come behind to draw with Newcastle and beat Crystal Palace and Dortmund after trailing this season. Their opponents are never safe.
Neymar, Messi, Mbappé. They’re all on fire. This must be exactly what PSG were hoping for when they added Messi to their collection of stars last summer and then kept Mbappé just a few months ago.
They’ve now played 10 times this season won nine, lost none, scoring 34 goals and conceding just six. Christophe Galtier is turning a collection of big names into a well-oiled machine.
Speaking of well-oiled machines, Real Madrid just don’t stop.
In the league, in the Champions League, in whatever competition you put them in. And apparently they can do it without Karim Benzema as well. A terrifying thought.
