We’ve had weekend fixtures and a bumper round of midweek action ahead of the winter break.

So, let’s find out which teams are going into the yuletide full of momentum.

10. Fenerbahçe (🆕)

Fenerbahçe are the best team in Turkey right now and just keep on finding ways to win games.

The Istanbul side topped their Conference League group last week with a resounding victory over Spartak Trnava and then backed that up at the weekend against Kayserispor.

Michy Batshuayi was the hero on their travels as the Belgium international netted a hat-trick in a thrilling clash that ended 4-3 to the capital club.

9. Paris Saint-Germain (Last week: 9)

A last-minute Jonathan David strike saw Lille claim a 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain at the weekend as the capital club dropped points for only the fifth time this season.

But they bounced back immediately on Wednesday as Kylian Mbappé was at his goalscoring best with a double in the 3-1 victory over Metz.

It means that PSG are now five points clear at the top of Ligue 1 going into the winter break.

8. Inter (👎 Last week: 5)

Inter extended their lead at the top of Serie A this weekend as they went to Lazio and showed exactly why they’re the favourites for the Scudetto.

Lautaro MartĂnez and Marcus Thuram bagged the goals in a 2-0 win in Rome, but any hopes of a treble were dashed in midweek against Bologna.

Coach Simeone Inzaghi admitted his side were “pissed off” as they lost, after extra time, to the Rossoblu in the Coppa Italia last 16.

7. Bayern Munich (🆕)

Harry Kane is being historically good for Bayern Munich and it’s his goals that have seen the Bavarian side keep pace with table-toppers Bayer Leverkusen.

Thomas Tuchel’s men are included in our list once again having won two from two in the past few days.

First Bayern dismantled third-place Stuttgart with a resounding 3-0 win before edging past Wolfsburg 2-1 on Wednesday evening.

Kane now has 21 for the season with Bayern four points behind Leverkusen at the halfway stage of the campaign.

6. PSV (👍 Last week: 7)

PSV remain perfect domestically having won all 16 of their Eredivisie games so far.

Peter Bosz’s men were at it again over the weekend as fellow title contenders AZ Alkmaar hosted a crunch game at the AFAS Stadium.

But three goals in 15 stunning first-half minutes saw PSV control the match and come away with all three points, with Luuk De Jong the talisman.

5. Bayer Leverkusen (👍 Last week: 6)

This week, Bayer Leverkusen became the first team in German club history to go 25 games unbeaten and they did so in a style that has become commonplace under Xabi Alonso.

Bochum were put to the sword with Patrik Shick’s first-half hat-trick laying the foundations for an easy 4-0 win.

Leverkusen now end 2023 in top spot, having not lost any of their 16 games so far this term, scoring 46 goals and conceding a league-leading 12.

The Bundesliga title race could not be more perfectly set up for the new year.

4. Liverpool (👎 Last week: 2)

Liverpool may be second in the Premier League and into a cup semi-final, but boss JĂŒrgen Klopp is not happy.

“If you’re not in top shape, give your ticket to someone else,” was the German coach’s riposte to home fans after a combative crowd were unhappy during their 5-1 win over West Ham.

But perhaps the Anfield faithful were still on the offensive after Sunday’s utterly dismal 0-0 draw against Manchester United?

That goalless clash with their bitter rivals was one of the most turgid games of the Premier League season and a definite case of an opportunity missed for the Reds.

3. Aston Villa (👍 Last week: 4)

If there was a point of criticism for high-flying Aston Villa this season, it’s been their away form.

The Villa Park side have been titanic at home, but away from the Midlands, Unai Emery’s side have often sunk without a trace.

On Sunday, however, Villa proved their title credentials with a hard-fought and tempestuous 2-1 victory at Brentford.

2. Real Madrid (👍 Last week: 3)

The 2023/24 LaLiga title race has been one of the best in years, with Real Madrid pushing Girona to greater things week-by-week.

This past weekend saw Los Blancos bounce back from a slip-up at Real Betis to cruise past Villarreal.

Jude Bellingham was the catalyst once again as he opened the scoring in a 4-1 win.

1. Girona (Last week: 1)

The best team in Spain just keeps on getting better.

Everyone seems to be waiting for the point when Girona slip up, but so far, the Liga minnows have maintained their remarkable start to the season.

Artem Dovbyuk was the protagonist on Monday as his double helped secure a 3-0 win over Alaves, with Girona staying two points ahead of Real Madrid at the top of the table.

The Catalan club’s trip to Real Madrid on February 11 cannot come soon enough.
