It’s been almost four weeks since our last Power Rankings due to most leagues taking a Christmas break.

That’s an awfully long time in football so there’s plenty to be getting on with …

10. Fenerbahçe (No change)

Fenerbahçe stay in 10th place on our list after what was an incredibly fruitful festive period for the Istanbul giants.

With football continuing whilst most of the rest of Europe stopped, Fener were able to amass five wins since our last Power Rankings.

They remain top of the SĂźper Lig having lost just one game all season so far.

9. Inter (👎 Last time: 8)

There have been mixed fortunes for Inter since the last round of Rankings with the Nerazzurri impressing in wins over Verona, Monza and Lecce.

Simeone Inzaghi’s side are still leading Serie A but a draw against middling Genoa and a defeat in the Coppa Italia at Bologna has dampened spirits somewhat at San Siro.

A mouth-watering clash with Juventus on February 4 could be the hinge-point of their season.

8. PSV (👎 Last time: 6)

A record-breaking campaign continues to get better for PSV.

The Dutch giants have won every match so far this term – 17 out of 17 – scoring 59 goals in the process and only conceding seven.

Peter Bosz’s side picked up where they left off after the winter break, beating Excelsior and Twente in the KNVB Cup.

7. Bayer Leverkusen (👎 Last time: 5)

Hamstrung by the fact they’ve only played one game since the last list, Bayer Leverkusen may be seventh here but are very much top of the Bundesliga.

Xabi Alonso’s side struggled against Augsburg last weekend with the match looking for all the world like it was heading towards a 0-0 draw.

But with virtually the last kick of the game, Exequiel Palacios netted an unlikely winner with Die Werkself now on a run of 26 matches without defeat.

6. Paris Saint-Germain (👍 Last time: 8)

PSG continue to run away with Ligue 1, currently leading second place Nice by eight points, having scored a mammoth 44 goals in 18 games.

Luis Enrique’s side were at their most impressive this last weekend though as they went to a raucous Stade Bollaert-Delelis and beat Lens 2-0 thanks to goals from Bradley Barcola and Kylian Mbappé.

The victory showed a genuine maturity which looks ominous for the rest of France going into the second half of this season.

5. Bayern Munich (👍 Last time: 7)

Jamal Musiala was the hero as Bayern Munich restarted their league campaign with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Hoffenheim last time out.

The Germany international netted twice to take his tally for the term to five whilst Harry Kane equalled Robert Lewandowski’s record of 22 goals in the first half of a Bundesliga season.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are still four points – with a game in hand – behind leaders Leverkusen.

4. Girona (👍 Last time: 1)

The fairytale continues for Girona with the Catalan club clinging to the top of LaLiga despite a relatively rocky result since Christmas.

In a division where any dropped points feel like a defeat, last weekend’s draw at Almería could be a damning one for Míchel’s men.

Girona were lucky to escape without a defeat, having had a man sent off and with the hosts enjoying 20 shots on goal to their five.

February is going to be a crucial month for the league leaders with all eyes on their match-up with Real Madrid on February 11.

3. Manchester City (🆕)

Our first and only new entry in the top 10 this time around and it’s the reigning world champions.

Pep Guardiola’s side won the Club World Cup over the break and have hit the ground running in the Premier League since their return.

With Kevin De Bruyne back from injury and playing like he never went away, don’t be surprised to see City higher up this list in a few weeks’ time.

2. Liverpool (👍 Last time: 4)

Despite major absentees at AFCON and the Asian Cup, Liverpool have just kept on winning whilst the weather worsened.

The Reds are currently leading the Premier League after 20 games having recently beaten Newcastle, Burnley and Arsenal in the FA Cup.

After an off season last time around, Jürgen Klopp’s side are playing like a side that can win it all.

1. Real Madrid (👍 Last time: 2)

Cup winners and continued brilliance.

It’s been a stunning start to 2024 for Real Madrid with Los Blancos having lifted their first trophy of the campaign last weekend with a resounding win over Barcelona in the Supercopa de España final.

Jude Bellingham’s rise to world dominance continues at pace whilst Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo are becoming two of the very best forwards in the game.

They are the pinnacle right now.
