Ben Chilwell has emerged as a late target for Strasbourg, with two Italian clubs also interested according to journalist Mike McGrath.

Chilwell is one of a number of players Chelsea are desperate to move on before the end of the window, but they’ve struggled to find any suitors.

The England international spent the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace, and was part of the squad which won the FA Cup.

Ben Chilwell a target for Strasbourg

Palace opted against making the move permanent, and Chilwell has been training at Chelsea away from the first team squad.

The 28-year-old still has two years remaining on the deal he signed back in 2023, but the Blues could really do with getting his wages off the books.

Chilwell was linked with a move to Leeds earlier this summer, and both he and the club will hope a move materialises before the end of the window.

It’s in the best interests of all parties to find a solution, and McGrath has now provided an update on Chilwell’s future.

He took to X.com and said:

“Chelsea full-back Ben Chilwell has emerged as potential late target for French club Strasbourg.

“Torino have also been interested in adding him as a left-back, as have Roma in Italy.”

Chelsea still looking to offload Raheem Sterling

Chilwell isn’t the only high earner Chelsea are trying to move on before the end of the window, with Raheem Sterling also falling into that category.

Sterling is attracting interest from a number of clubs from both England and abroad, and it’s understood his preference is to remain in London if possible.

A loan deal can’t be ruled out at this late stage, but Chelsea’s preference is a permanent exit and getting his reported wages of in excess of £300,000 per week off the books.
