There has been a positive verdict made on Chelsea’s first five games of the season with Opta placing them in a favourable position.
Chelsea beat Los Angeles FC 2-0 in their Club World Cup opening group game on Monday night in what was a very strange and subdued atmosphere in front of just 22,000 people in a huge stadium.
It was far from vintage Chelsea but in the end they just got the job done and three points on the board to set them up for a good starts.
The goals came from a lovely Nicolas Jackson assist to Pedro Neto to finish in the first half. And then new signing Liam Delap also provided a superb assist for Enzo Fernandez to run into the box and tap in to score.
The Premier League announced the fixtures for the new season this morning and of course as it always does, it had tongues wagging and debates starting.
Chelsea have their fate for the coming season but in all honesty, I think it’s a lot of fuss. We have to play every team twice anyway so it is what it is.
In Opta’s difficulty table for the first five Premier League games of the season, they have Chelsea in 15th spot for the most difficult sides they are up against.
Chelsea’s opponent average rating is at 91.3 compared to Manchester United’s 94.6.
Chelsea’s 2025/26 Premier League first 5 fixtures:
Sun Aug 17 – Crystal Palace (h) Sat Aug 23 – West Ham United (a) Sat Aug 30 – Fulham (h) Sat Sep 13 – Brentford (a) Sat Sep 20 – Manchester United (a)
I don’t think there is ever an easy game in the Premier League, but this does not look like a bad start.
