Robert Lewandowski is still not fit enough to start

Poland only have Robert Lewandowski on the bench for today’s Euro 2024 fixture against Austria.

A thigh injury kept the Barcelona striker out of the Poles’ first game in Germany, a late defeat to Netherlands after an early Adam Buksa header put them in the lead.

Michal Probierz’s side struggled to create chances outside of set plays and they could struggle again, with Lewandowski only fit enough to be among the substitutes. Karol Swiderski attempted to make his case with a strong cameo off the bench last time out, but he does not earn a place in the sarting lineup.

At the back, Bartosz Salamon was a doubt after hurting his ankle and drops out as a result, with Pawel Dawidowicz stepping in for the veteran centre-back.

Austria are also chasing a first point having lost to France to open their campaign.

Ralf Rangnick does not have fresh injury issues but his side’s inability to create chances has brought a change, with Marko Arnautovic leading the line.
