Mauricio Pochettino is keen for Chelsea to move on from the boos that Raheem Sterling received from the home crowd during the win over Leicester before the international break.

Sterling was subjected to boos from the Chelsea supporters after a poor performance in the 4-2 win at Stamford Bridge, a fixture that saw the winger miss a penalty after taking the ball from regular taker Cole Palmer.

The 29-year-old also missed a one-on-one and blazed a well-placed free-kick high and wide, with the latter incident sparking a frustrated reaction from the home crowd.

Sterling was also jeered upon his substitution, but Pochettino has insisted he is keen for Chelsea to move on from the situation.

“We are talking about a very experienced player,” Pochettino said at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Burnley this weekend.

“What we can not do is create bigger things from this now because we know fans love our players and I know they will support him and the rest of the team.

“We need to be careful in the way we talk and give our opinions because there needs to be a strong relationship between everyone.

“I just want our players to play really well. I was also suffering the anger of the fans and their disappointment, in fact the whole team suffered in this situation. But Raheem is a spirited player and he understands it all.

“We now need to move on. It will help if we do.”
