Ryan Ledson is departing Deepdale this summer, and a whole host of clubs are interested in the 27-year-old
Departing Preston North End midfielder Ryan Ledson has a whole host of interested suitors in his services this summer, including former club Oxford United.
The 27-year-old's seven-year association with the Lilywhites will come to an end when his contract expires at the end of June, with a tearful farewell issued to North End's travelling supporters at Ashton Gate following an end of season 2-2 draw with Bristol City to secure Championship survival.
Ledson arrived at PNE in 2018 from Oxford United, and they are not alone in wanting to re-sign the engine room operator.
As per a report from the Daily Record in Scotland, there are many clubs wanting Ledson this coming summer alongside former club Oxford, with Scottish Premiership outfit Hibernian one of those.
Hibs, managed by ex-PNE full-back David Gray, will contest UEFA Europa League football next season and a move to Edinburgh could appeal to Ledson, but he has options closer to home in League One.
Both Bolton Wanderers and managerless Huddersfield Town are said to be showing interest in Ledson, with both representing more local options to the Liverpool-born maestro, whilst another club keen on him from next season's crop of League One teams is Miron Muslic's Plymouth Argyle.
It's reported that Ledson is weighing up his options in regards to his next move, but European football at Easter Road next season could potentially take him north of the border instead of staying in England.
After winning Preston North End's Player of the Year award in 2021 - his third season at the club - Ledson never really kicked on, with multiple managers not seeing him as an out-and-out starter at Deepdale.
That is probably what has led to his exit under Paul Heckingbottom, but at the age of 27, Ledson has time on his side to go into another club and put a marker down to start week in, week out.
It's hard to see that happening back at Oxford though with both Cameron Brannagan and Will Vaulks proving to provide a solid partnership for Gary Rowett - whilst he'd be a good squad player, Ledson could go elsewhere, potentially to one of the League One clubs interested, and start most games.
Bolton, Huddersfield and Plymouth all represent solid League One options, with both Wanderers and Town perhaps having the stronger midfield options on paper as it stands, but you'd back Ledson to force his way into any third tier starting 11.
