Romain Salin, 5 – Not much he could do about either goal and had few meaningful saves to make but did well to dive at the feet of a marauding Ndombele, who impressed, early in the second half.

Hamari Traoré, 4

Loïc Badé, 4

Nayef Aguerd, 5

Adrien Truffert, 4 – Largely solid defensively but wasted a handful of presentable openings in the attacking third, notably headed over with the goal gapping following Gollini’s save from Bourigeaud.

Baptiste Santamaria, 5

Flavien Tait, 7 – Instigated Rennes’ fightback in the second half of the first period, his fluid interplay with Bourigeaud and Guirassy made him tricky to defend against and his curling effort made it 1-1. He was unlucky to see a sliding block rebound to Hojbjerg for 2-2.

Benjamin Bourigeaud, 6

Kamaldeen Sulemana, 4 – Not far from a 3 having been largely anonymous throughout with the ball often bouncing off him but a direct dribble in from the left and low shot forced Gollini to push the ball right to the onrushing Laborde who slotted home to make it 2-1.

Gaëtan Laborde, 5 – Despite some nice interplay with Guirassy, unusually, it was a largely frustrating display from Laborde. His touch let him down on occasion and he failed to provide the quality needed in wider areas but he did well to follow up Sulemana’s shot to make it 2-1.

Serhou Guirassy, 7 – A physical and astute number nine display, repeatedly held the ball up and neatly brought others into attacks while his use of possession remained intelligent and effective. Both aspects of his performance combined to assist Tait for 1-1. Perhaps could have provided more of a goal threat himself, however.

Others: Meling 6, Tel 5, Ugochukwu 5, Martin 5.
