Manuel Locatelli posted impressive numbers from the base of Juventus‘s midfield against Milan, who had a couple of impressive performers at the back during Saturday’s 0-0 stalemate in Serie A. Check out the player ratings.

Juventus

Szczesny 6.5 – Not a particularly busy day at the office, but still kept out seven Milan attempts and finished the game with a passing accuracy of 94%.

Gatti 6 – Might have created a decent opportunity had he not decided to shoot in the first half, which frustrated Yildiz at the time. Solid in defence, but didn’t find himself in too many threatening situations.

Bremer 7 – Probably Juventus’ most impressive defender, both on the day and in general. It was a decent centre-back’s performance on Saturday, completing 100% of his tackles successfully, while also making four clearances out of the box.

Danilo 7 – Like his compatriot, a 100% tackle success rate, just the one clearance, but slightly more to do on the ball compared to Bremer. No major errors to note.

Weah 5.5 – As is customary for an Allegri wing-back, he was incredibly disciplined in defensive phases, but there wasn’t a significant impact moving forwards up the wing.

Cambiaso 6 – Operating on the right of a midfield three, but no particularly key passes or opportunities created this time out.

Locatelli 7 – Completed 61 successful passes in midfield, with a very impressive accuracy of 92%, the highest of any midfielder on the pitch. Orchestrated the middle of the park well from his usual role at the base of a three.

Rabiot 6.5 – An all action midfield display from the Frenchman, but it was his defensive stats that stood out today: six successful tackles, three interceptions and two clearances out of his area. Still got forwards plenty as well.

Kostic 5.5 – Similarly to Weah on the other flank, there wasn’t much happening in terms of creativity on the Juventus wings. Only dispossessed the once, though.

Vlahovic 6 – Responsible for the only shots on target during the first 45 minutes. Visibly frustrated to have come off after an hour, but may have suffered a knock at some stage, as he was spotted heading for the dressing rooms with an ice pack on his knee.

Yildiz 5 – Only had around 30 touches of the ball throughout the 90 and wasn’t able to create much himself. Just the one shot as well today, which did not end up on target.

Milan

Sportiello 8 – Called in at the last minute to replace Maignan, who picked up an injury in the warm-up. Tested after seven minutes and looked prepared and comfortable from there on in. A very important double save in the second half.

Musah 7 – A right-back in defensive phases, but allowed into midfield to create an overload in possession. Solid on the ball and usually Milan’s go-to outlet when playing out from the back. A really important part of the Rossoneri tactical set-up.

Gabbia 6 – Reliable enough in what was a very makeshift Milan back-line on paper. Helped Thiaw in keeping Vlahovic quiet, but not quite as impressive as his centre-back partner.

Thiaw 7.5 – Tasked with keeping Vlahovic quiet, the German was one of the few stand-out performers on the day and was awarded Player of the Match by DAZN. Strong and reliable, it’s little wonder Real Madrid and others are sniffing around San Siro.

Florenzi 6 – Another shift out on the left, and reliable enough up against Weah. Perhaps could have made a bit more out of his set-piece deliveries in the second half.

Adli 5.5 – Not a particularly memorable display, but the same could be said for quite a few players in what was a rather underwhelming goalless draw. Milan’s strengths were at the back on this occasion, and though they kept a decent amount of first half possession, they weren’t able to get through Juve’s rigid set-up.

Reijnders 6 – It’s a similar story for all of Milan’s midfield. They weren’t able to break Juventus down, but at the same time, they weren’t particularly wasteful or sloppy. It was an end of season stalemate that was lacking in any real motivation.

Loftus-Cheek 5.5 – Again, a performance that was lacking in chances created, particularly from the man who was most often the furthest forward midfielder.

Pulisic 5 – Wasn’t handed too many opportunities, but also only made one successful dribble, which wasn’t enough when Milan were clearly needing a spark of energy and creativity.

Giroud 4 – Zero shots at all for the Frenchman in Turin. Not necessarily his fault, but at his age and slightly lacking in mobility compared to others, there was not a lot else for him to offer against the tight Juventus back line.

Leao 5 – Wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of Calabria and Theo Hernandez. Ultimately, he was another who suffered against the often deep-lying Juve defence.
