Player Ratings | Borussia Mönchengladbach 0-1 RB Leipzig

Article image:Player Ratings | Borussia Mönchengladbach 0-1 RB Leipzig

In a rather dull game, RB Leipzig ran out 1-0 winners against Borussia Mönchengladbach to leave die Fohlen still winless with five games played.

The first half and the majority of the second half went by with minimal action until the 75th minute when Timo Werner broke the deadlock to score his first goal of the season. The win sends Leipzig into third for now with their only loss of the season being on the opening game of the season against Bayer Leverkusen. They must now prepare for their next weekend when they face Bayern Munich.

Borussia Mönchengladbach:

Moritz Nicolas: 5

Nico Elvedi: 5

Ko Itakura: 6

Maximilian Wöber: 6

Joe Scally: 5

Rocco Reitz: 7- The only bright spot for Gladbach, the 21-year-old put in another solid performance in a poor team performance. Regardless of what division Gladbach are in next season, Reitz is likely to be in the heart of the midfield.

Julian Weigl: 6

Manu Koné: 6 – In his first game back from injury, Koné had an average game with very little to worry about or to be impressed about. Once he gets back to into the swing of things, we will likely see the old Koné again.

Luca Netz: 5

Frank Honorat: 5

Jordan: 5

Others: Alassane Pléa (5), Nathan Ngoumou (5), Christoph Kramer (-), Florian Neuhaus (-), Robin Hack (-)

RB Leipzig:

Janis Blaswich: 6

Benjamin Henrichs: 6

Mohamed Simakan: 6

Castello Lukeba: 6

David Raum: 7

Xaver Schlager: 5

Kevin Kampl: 6

Xavi Simons: 7 – Wasn’t one of his best games but Simons once again provided a goal contribution with a thread-the-needle pass to Werner for the only goal of the game. With a big game against Bayern next week, it would be better for Simons to have his off day today than struggle against a rival.

Fabio Carvalho: 6

Benjamin Seško: 7 – Without a contribution today, however, Seško continued to be a nuisance in attack and caused several issues for Gladbach’s defence.

Loïs Openda: 6

Others: Christoph Baumgartner (5), Yussuf Poulsen (5), Timo Werner (7), Nicolas Seiwald (-), Lukas Klostermann (-)
