Dutch second tier side De Graafschap have announced their first signing of the summer. The club from Doetinchem, near the border with Germany, have signed RB Leipzig forward Yannick Eduardo on loan. The 18-year-old will spend the 2024/2025 season with the club as they look to gain promotion to the Eredivisie.
Last season De Graafschap finished fifth in 6th and qualified for the promotion play-offs. The side lost in the first round against Ado Den Haag over two legs. De Graafschap were last in the top flight of Dutch football during the 2018/2019 season, finishing in 17th and getting relegated. They finished the curtailed COVID-19 season in second place the following year, before a third placed finished during the 2020/2021 season. Last year was their best season since then.
In Eduardo they have signed an exciting young talent who did well in the youth system in Germany and Europe. He scored five goals in seven games in the European competition, grabbing 19 goals in 27 games in the U19 Bundesliga. The striker is eligible to represent the Angola, Czech or Netherlands at international level and is under contract with RB Leipzig until 2027.
