Player grades: Sheffield United suffer defeat to Wolves | OneFootball

Sheffield United suffered a narrow defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon. Despite the loss, Sheffield United showcased several positives as they battled courageously against Wolves, making a case for at least a point in a match characterised by end-to-end periods.

Player grades

Ivo Grbic: 6

Displayed confidence when dealing with high balls but didn’t really have many saves to make. Showed composure with the ball at his feet too but he found himself in a peculiar situation when he noticed Souza down and made a feeble attempt to play the ball out, inadvertently passing it to Sarabia. However, Sarabia, showing sportsmanship, chose to stop and put the ball out of play, despite being well within his rights to continue.

Jayden Bogle: 6

Showed plenty of energy and fight as he bombed up and down the pitch, jostling for possession. To say Pedro Neto had plenty of touches of the ball, Bogle really restricted the threat of Neto whenever he was faced in one-vs-one’s.

Anel Ahmedhodzic: 7

Defended brilliantly at times and managed to contain Wolves’ tricky speedsters despite being in a foot race. He even demonstrated his attacking ability on occasions where the game opened itself up.

Auston Trusty: 7

Made a number of crucial blocks and interceptions. Was unlucky not to equalise for the Blades but his goal-bound effort was blocked.

Jack Robinson: 6

Was at the centre of one of the most unusual incidents of United’s season thus far, as he and Souza confronted each other following a Wolves chance, both players raising their hands. VAR intervened to assess if there was any potential for violent conduct, which I find crazy personally, luckily nothing came of it.

Yasser Larouci: 5

Made some vital runs to track back and see out promising Wolves attacks. However, when asked to beat his man, he did at times, but his subsequent crosses were awful – sailing out of play for goalkicks on more than one occasion.

Vinicius Souza: 6

Souza and Robinson had a disagreement just before halftime. He disrupted the opposition’s play effectively and demonstrated good distribution when in possession, but unfortunately succumbed to cramps and was substituted late in the game.

Oli Norwood: 6

Had a decent game, breaking up the home team’s moves. He played some brilliant long passes at times, as well as some incisive clipped through balls – like the one to Ahmedhodzic in the second half.

Gustavo Hamer: 6

Had the opportunity to increase his assist count for the season following his exquisite pass that sent McAtee through on goal. However, the finish from the Man City player was subpar.

Nonetheless, he consistently showed initiative by taking charge of the ball and creating chances. Despite a few lively moments, a particularly dreadful set-piece resulted in United wasting time setting it up correctly, only for Hamer to deliver it aimlessly, leaving Wilder visibly frustrated.

James McAtee: 6

The Manchester City loanee had a brilliant chance to draw first blood as he went up against Craig Dawson but his finish was poor – making it easy for the goalkeeper. Had some bright moments but never really left his mark on a game which was wide open at times.

Rhian Brewster: 7

Worked hard chasing lost causes all game but should’ve squared the ball to McAtee before squandering his chance. Looked really bright in moments.
