Luton have, by and large, kept faith with the squad that got them into the Premier League in the first place.

Bar a few exceptions, the XI that played at Wembley in the play-off final will be there for the opening game against Brighton on August 12.

And at the heart of the defence will be captain Tom Lockyer.

The centre-back was named as the club’s Player of the Season last term and will be key if the Hatters are to stay in the division come next May.

A rangy defender who reads the game well and is good on the ball, Lockyer has impressed coming up through the football pyramid with the likes of Bristol City and Charlton.

But will the step up to the Premier League prove one too far?

What has changed since last season? 🤔

For the first time in Luton’s history, they are playing Premier League football.

The Bedfordshire club have been in the top-flight before but the last time the Hatters bothered the big time was in 1991/92, just before football was invented.

Rob Edwards’ side completed a shock promotion last term, beating Coventry at Wembley to complete one of the most improbable runs to the Premier League ever.

But the Kenilworth Road club have it all to do as try and compete with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.
