Bournemouth escaped from the Premier League’s relegation zone in rousing fashion at the end of last season.

With a new manager at the helm, will they be able to aim even higher as they approach a difficult second act?

Born into footballing royalty and set to become just the fourth player to feature in all of Europe’s top five leagues, hopes are already high for Kluivert on the South Coast

Still only 24, the winger’s versatility has been both a blessing and a curse after scoring double figures just once in seven previous seasons since his Ajax breakthrough.

But Andoni Iraola’s appointment promises to be the making of Kluivert’s top-flight career with a style well attuned to his core attributes in defence as well as attack.

Gary O’Neil’s reward for steering the Cherries away from a relegation battle was to receive his marching orders just weeks after the season ended.

His former employers wasted little time in appointing a successor, with Iraola’s arrival at the Vitality Stadium confirmed a matter of hours later.

The 41-year-old becomes the fourth Basque coach in the Premier League and is no slouch as a recent three-year spell in charge of Rayo Vallecano fully attests.

Iraola arrives on the South Coast with a reputation for teams that play with both high intensity and an emphasis on ball retention from his time at Vallecas.
