Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (28) has decided to remain with Tottenham Hotspur during the winter transfer window, rejecting all offers that came his way. The decision was confirmed by Højbjerg’s lawyer, Lars Halgreen, who spoke to Florian Plettenberg.
“Despite rumours and noise, the player always kept focus on helping the team, coaches, and Tottenham,” Halgreen said.
“The player never asked to leave now. He’s very ambitious for Tottenham and Denmark, continuing to keep improving himself, like he did all his career.
“He’s a strong character and player, his only focus is Tottenham to finish the season well and to help as much as possible. Pierre always liked challenges.”
Højbjerg has been a crucial part of Tottenham’s midfield since joining the club in August 2020 from Southampton, where he was club captain. Although not first choice this season, he has been reliable when called upon by Ange Postecoglou and due to various reasons he has featured a lot more than expected.
His lawyer emphasised his commitment to challenges, indicating that the midfielder is eager to continue his growth within the Tottenham setup and fight for a regular starting place in the team.
The Danish midfielder has played 1,013 minutes across 23 games in all competitions for Tottenham this season, but is yet to register a goal contribution.
