Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s (34) efforts in the Olympique de Marseille shirt this season have been recognised by Radio France International and France 24 who have awarded the forward the accolade of winning the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé.

The annual award is won by the best African player in Ligue 1 in memory of the former Olympique Lyonnais and RC Lens midfielder Marc-Vivien Foé who passed away after collapsing in a game between Cameroon and Colombia in the Confederations Cup.

After André Ayew (34) in the 2014-15 season and Chancel Mbemba (29) in the previous campaign, Aubameyang becomes only the third Marseille player to win the accolade. His efforts in guiding the club into the semi-final of the Europa League and his record of 14 goals in Ligue 1 earned him the award.

Tonight, Aubameyang will also be in the running for the UNFP Ligue 1 Player of the Season, although he faces fierce competition from Kylian Mbappé (25) who will be searching for his fifth consecutive trophy.
