Manchester United star Luke Shaw has been pictured back training on grass as he steps up his recovery from his latest injury.

The English defender suffered from a hamstring injury following the clash with Everton before the November international break.

United ran out 3-1 winners, largely thanks to Bruno Fernandes, but Shaw was impressive in that fixture as well and it gave hope to fans he could finally nail a long-term spot in the starting XI.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be as the former Southampton man picked up a knock just as he was hitting form as has happened many times in the past.

The Red Devils are set to take on his former side this Sunday and while that seems too close for Shaw, it’s a good sign he’s back in training.

Alex Telles has performed well in Shaw’s absence but he hasn’t necessarily been tested defensively just yet.

In the clash vs PSG he was protected by three centre-backs and in the clash against Istanbul Basaksehir, he was always going to be used more as an attacking outlet.

The upcoming match vs Southampton might provide the perfect opportunity to see how he will fair protecting his own backline and not just attacking opponents’ backlines.
