Mohamed Salah could make history after making the shortlist for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

Six players have been nominated by their peers, and unsurprisingly two Liverpool players have been shortlisted after their Premier League title-winning campaign.

Alexis Mac Allister joins Salah in the running for the prize, having been named Player of the Month for April. He featured in 35 of 38 Premier League games for Arne Slot’s side.

Salah, meanwhile, registered 29 goals and 18 assists in a remarkable season and has already been recognised for those numbers.

He has won the Premier League Player of the Season and Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year awards.

Salah will now hope to become the first man to be named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year for a third time, after taking home the award in 2018 and 2022.

Cole Palmer is also included on the shortlist, despite a drop-off in form in the second-half of the season, while Bruno Fernandes also made the cut too.

The Portuguese star was a rare positive in an otherwise miserable season for Manchester United, who finished 15th in the table.

Declan Rice is the sole Arsenal player to have been nominated and Newcastle striker Alexander Isak completes the list, after a season in which he scored 27 goals in all competitions.

Phil Foden was named Players’ Players of the Year last season and Erling Haaland won it in 2023, but no Manchester City players have made the cut this time.

The winner of the award will be announced at a PFA ceremony on Tuesday August 19.
