Former Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi weighed on in the future of Massimiliano Allegri, explaining why Juventus may not sack him this summer.

The 56-year-old Italian coach has come under increasing pressure across the last six months after his Bianconeri began to fall away from Scudetto winners Inter and fans are now calling for changes to be made at the end of the season.

Juventus’ form has continued to plummet under Allegri in recent months, with the team managing just two wins in their last 14 league outings. Thanks to their form in the first half of the campaign, their Champions League spot is not particularly at risk, although there’s a slim chance that could change.

Why Allegri may stay at Juventus

Speaking to TMW, Petrachi gave his thoughts on Allegri’s position at Juventus, giving reasons why the club may decide not to sack him in the summer despite the poor performances and loss of faith from the fans.

“It’s been three years that they’ve been saying that he has to leave, and in the end he is respecting his contract. I think he will stay this year too, because he has an important and rich contract.

“To leave, one either gives up money or is given an incentive to leave, I don’t know what plans Juve have, but here is a coach who earns more than €7m net a year.

“Unless Allegri has another international team ready to give him that salary, I find it hard to think of Juve dismissing him, paying another coach who doesn’t earn much in the end, because in the end they don’t hire just anyone. So, I don’t think Allegri will leave.”
