Borussia Dortmund have sacked Peter Bosz as their head coach just 173 days after he took over at the club.

Peter Stöger – who was last week dismissed by bottom of the league FC Köln – will take over at the Westfalenstadion until the end of the season, with Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann hotly tipped to join the club in the summer.

After defeat to Bundesliga strugglers Werder Bremen on Saturday, BVB have now won just once in their last 13 matches in all competitions. That victory came against third division side FC Magdeburg in the cup.

Bosz’s start to the season was the best of any Dortmund manager in history as the team kept five consecutive Bundesliga clean sheets and won 19 of the first 21 points available.

Since 2 October, however, only Köln have picked up fewer points than the Black and Yellows.

To make matters worse, the club are out of the Champions League, picking up just two points against APOEL in the group stage.
