Pep Guardiola has joked that Manchester City will spend “maybe £1billion or something” this summer.

City have been crowned runaway Premier League champions, and have a number of top-flight records still in their sights with three games remaining.

However, there is still room for improvement in Europe, having only reached the Champions League quarter-finals this season.

“Don’t worry, we are going to spend a lot of money next season as well – maybe £1billion or something,” Guardiola told reporters.

“It’s the same question with Chelsea four years ago, when they were not good the next season. Next season everyone starts with zero points. We need something.

“We need to touch something, the team. Maybe one. Maybe two. No more than that, for next year.”
