Pep Guardiola has said that Manchester City's first goal against Aston Villa 'changed everything' for his side on the final day.

Man City had shockingly gone two goals behind at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon, handing the initiative in the title race to Liverpool in the process.

However, a 76th minute goal from substitute Ilkay Gundogan proved to be the catalyst for a comeback. Rodri and another from Gundogan would complete the turnaround and ensure Guardiola would win his fourth Premier League title.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Guardiola highlighted Gundogan's goal as the turning point:

"Aston Villa gave everything but the moment we found a goal, it changed everything.

"These guys, we are legends. When you win in this country four times in five years, it's because these guys are so, so, special.

"The first time we won with 100 points, the second one in Brighton, the third last season with no people, and now, wow, winning at home with our people is the best."

Guardiola also took the time to praise Liverpool, saying: "I've never seen a team like Liverpool in my life. I know it's tough, but big congratulations to them. They help us to be a better team season after season."
