Roma and Lorenzo Pellegrini are reportedly looking to part ways.
The Giallorossi’s number 7’s contract expires on June 30th 2026, and the club has not made any offer to renew it.
There are several reasons for this decision: the unfulfilled connection with the new coach, the decision to take away from him the captain’s armband, and his €6 million net salary, reports Corriere dello Sport.
First, the operation in Finland, then a septoplasty to correct a deviated nasal septum. Doctors advised him to avoid two anesthesia sessions in quick succession, but by doing so, he’s already missed a month of work with the new manager, who is now looking around for his role.
In fact, the player isn’t on the sidelines; on the contrary, he’s working hard to re-establish himself within the manager’s hierarchy, but the expectation was that he would return after Roma’s preseason training camp in England.
Pellegrini, despite hoping to convince everyone on the pitch, is starting to consider offers from interested clubs.
Since the beginning of August, West Ham have been interested, and they’re ready to explore the matter further.
Also in the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur have inquired about him.
In Italy, Fiorentina are interested in him, but his salary makes any kind of negotiation difficult.
