During their first league fixture of the season against Mallorca, Barcelona faced a problem that had not been anticipated.

The home side took to the field in a red shirt and black shorts, a combination that clashed heavily with both Barça’s traditional home kit and their away strip inspired by Kobe Bryant.

This colour scheme immediately draws comparisons to the 2009–11 Barcelona away and third kits, which remain fondly remembered by supporters.

The inspiration from the mid-2000s Total 90 design brings back memories of one of Nike’s most iconic templates, while giving the current generation of players a fresh, modernised twist on a classic look.
