However, Barcelona went through a slump after putting their noses up front, as the visitors constantly asked questions of the Blaugranes’ defense.

Eventually, it was coach Xavi Hernandez’s substitutes that made the difference. The biggest game changer proved to be none other than Pedri Gonzalez.

Speaking in the post-match conference, the Canary Islander reflected on the match and his two goals.

Acknowledging the campaign as a forgettable one, Pedri said, “It was not a good season, but we did our job today.”

Talking about his current state, Pedri conveyed optimism. “Personally, I feel good. I have security on the pitch and we can see the results,” he claimed.

Barcelona’s main objective right now is to secure a top-two position, as it will allow them to secure qualification for the Spanish Super Cup. The goal is no longer a distant possibility after today’s convincing win.

“Today we had to win and achieve our goal, which was to finish in second place. It’s true that it was not what we expected, but we had to do it and qualify for the Super Cup,” Pedri confessed.

“The dressing room is focused on the pitch, not on outside noise. We only wanted to finish second,” he added.

The 21-year-old is known for his poise on the ball, but Pedri also decided to put his shooting boots on today, as he scored a blistering brace. Pedri admitted he had his eyes on the hat-trick, though.

“The truth is that I wanted to score a hat-trick but I couldn’t,” the midfield maestro professed.
