Manchester United looked dead and buried at half-time of their Champions League clash against Atalanta on Wednesday evening.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side went into the game having won just once in their past five games.

And they looked like their barren run would go on when they fell 2-0 down after 28 minutes.

United looked a completely different team after the break and they managed to pull off a miraculous comeback.

Goals from Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire meant the score was level going into the final 15 minutes.

Cristiano Ronaldo [who else?!] then completed the comeback with a fine header, sending Old Trafford into raptures.

The United legend was working as a pundit on BT Sport for the game.

And he tore into United at full-time, claiming that a better side would have put the game out of reach in the first 45 minutes.

Asked whether it was a win worth celebrating, Scholes replied: "Ummm. You celebrate every win, don't you? But the first half really worried me.

"People are going to say I'm miserable and I'm probably going to get slagged off by United fans, but I looked at that game thinking about Liverpool on Sunday. Maybe it's the wrong thing to do.

"I thought in the first half they were all over the place. They were disjointed. The two midfield players were playing on their own.

"If you do that against Man City or Liverpool, it'll be 3 or 4-0 at half-time. You'll be out of the game and you won't be coming back.

"Yet, it's great watching the excitement and the United way, all the attacking, all the goals, all the shooting, all the crossing... but that first half stuck with me."

He continued: "They conceded so many chances. If you are playing against quality players, there is no way you are winning that game. Not a chance. Will he play that way against Liverpool on Sunday? Go and do that against Liverpool on Sunday, see what happens.

"Imagine Jurgen Klopp watching that at home, rubbing his hands together."

Ouch. Fair play to Scholes. He spent his whole career at United and was teammates with Solskjaer for many years but you certainly can't accuse him of being biased.
